No matter what your own personal style is there are a few universal rules to looking chic and put together.
1. FIT! There is nothing that looks sloppier than ill fitting clothes, whether they be too tight, too loose, too short or too long. Find yourself a good tailor, get those pants hemmed, jackets taken in and donate clothes that don't fit anymore! I promise that your look will thank you.
2. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. No matter how awesome your outfit may be, it is my belief that it will never be complete without accessories. A cool printed scarf can change an everyday jeans and t-shirt into California-cool, and a piece of statement jewelry will turn a simple dress into a stunning outfit. Also- trendy accessories can be way to update your wardrobe without breaking the bank.
3. Play with textures, patterns and colors. And on that note- layer! Both of these elements help to create dynamic and interesting outfits.
4. And lastly lets remember the cardinal rule of any good diet- moderation (in the amount of skin you show). Another way to say this is leave something to the imagination. If you wanna show some leg you don't need to show your cleavage and your tummy too. I am all for being sexy, but lets not look like we'll give it away for free ladies.
